Vein-cut travertine pool deck
A pool deck in vein-cut travertine. The block is sawn along its layers, which gives long silver, grey and beige stripes instead of the usual holes.
The job
Travertine pavers frame the pool on three sides with tight joints, and the coping is the same stone, so the colour doesn't change at the edge. At the far end a low wall clad in travertine works as a water feature.
Vein cut or cross cut
Sawn along the layers you get stripes. Sawn across, a mottled face with round holes. The two rarely look right together, so choose before ordering.
Finish
Polished travertine is slippery wet, so round a pool it's honed, brushed or tumbled. Filled pavers are worth checking each spring after the frost.
Winters near Troyes
Ask for the frost result of the batch on the quote. The deck needs a draining screed with 1 to 2% fall away from the pool and a breathable sealer. Keep acid pool cleaners off it. More in the pool stone and frost guide.

Frequently asked questions
Another question? Call the workshop: 07 45 20 76 39
Is vein-cut weaker than cross-cut?
No. Strength comes from the thickness, usually 3 cm outside, and a full bed of adhesive.
Filled or unfilled round a pool?
Unfilled holes collect dirt. Filled looks smoother but check the fill after winter.
Can I manage it from abroad?
Yes, quotes and progress photos by email or WhatsApp. The lead time is on the quote.
