Two-level beige marble vanity

A beige marble vanity on two levels, with the basin carved straight into the top and an open shelf underneath in the same marble.

The job

The top has a deep front edge and a rectangular basin cut into the stone, no separate bowl. The taps come out of the wall, so there are no holes in the top for water to sit around. An upstand runs under the mirror, and the bath panel is the same stone. The floor is pale marble with a dark border.

The front edge

It looks like a solid block but it's a 2 cm strip glued under the top with tinted epoxy, with the vein matched round the edge. Much lighter than solid stone.

Wall taps

The valves go in the wall before it's finished, so the plumber has to come before us. Worth sorting on the quote.

Upkeep

Beige marble hides limescale well but lemon and some cosmetics mark it. Rinse off toothpaste. A dull floor can be honed and polished without lifting it.

Frequently asked questions

Another question? Call the workshop: 07 45 20 76 39

Can a carved basin leak?

No, it's part of the stone. Only the waste needs a seal, like any basin.

Why a stone shelf underneath?

It matches the top, stiffens the unit and holds towels without extra furniture.

Does beige marble turn yellow?

Sound marble doesn't. Yellowing usually comes from a wax or the wrong product, and honing takes it off.
