Steel sink on a granite worktop

Stained or scratched marble worktop

Dull rings on a marble worktop are acid etching from lemon, vinegar or wine, and come out with light grinding then repolishing. Dark grease stains are drawn out with a poultice, without grinding.

Stains and limescale

The white crust round the sink is limescale from the water. A limescale remover shifts it but also etches marble, so we take it off with a fine abrasive and repolish the area. An oil stain lifts within 24 to 48 hours under a clay and solvent poultice.

Scratches and chips

A light scratch comes out with 400 then 800 grit diamond discs. A chip on the edge, often by the dishwasher, is filled with tinted epoxy, ground flush and polished. We finish with a food-safe water and oil repellent sealer. Crystallisation is for floors only. Send photos taken in low side light, as they show how deep the marks go.

A worktop beyond repair can be remade in our workshop, see marble worktops and marble restoration.
